If someone asked me to name the first movie that comes to my mind that is the most badass action movie I could think of, I would say Die Hard. I like to get older movies every once in awhile and this one came in the mail the other day. Val Kilmer plays a professional thief who needs to do one last job before he can retire. The last job is in Russia where the man who hired him is the head of some oil company ,whith mafia ties, who wants to take control of Russia. The final job involves Kilmer finding a girl (Elisabeth Shue) and stealing her formula for cold fusion power. He ends up falling for her (go figure) and decides to give up the job but the russian mobster won't let him without a fight. All in all not too shabby.
I give it a 5.5/10 which is somewhere in the range of imdb.

For those that don't know me very well I am a huge horror movie fan. They claim this movie to be a remake of the original going by the same name but every self respecting movie fan knows that Jason's mother is the killer in the first and that Jason doesnt even get his trademark hockey mask until part 3. I'm ok with all that because I don't really give a sh*t. I'd go and see any of the Friday or Nightmare movies no matter what they did. I've been a little sick lately so I haven't felt like doing much of anything but watch movies and Netflix dropped the ball this week so I was stuck searching the free movies on On Demand. After watching A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, I'm glad I got the opportunity. I figured this movie couldn't be that bad with some of the big named actors in in like Robert Downey Jr. and Shia Labeouf. It was way better than I thought it would be. It's based on a true story of a kid growing up in the mid 1980's in New York City and having to face some of lifes obstacals before getting out of the city. IMDB gave it a 7.1/10 and I give it a 7.5/10 so we agree for the most part. Definitely worth a look!

I'm going to kick off this new section of this blog with this absolutely badass movie. This is deffinately in my top 10 movies of all time right now due to how crazy it gets. It goes from one thing to another and just when you think the sh*t is deep it goes tottaly insane. I'm not a huge fan of Paul Walker by any means but he does his job in this one. There's one part in the middle of the movie that makes your jaw drop to the floor and just go WTF IS GOING ON HERE?!?! If your into gangster movies with some extra darkness and crazyness then check it out.

Death Race-2008 Review

I just finished watching the newly released on dvd Death Race starring Jason Statham. I didn't have extremely high expectations for it going in and it deffinately met my standards and then some. Statham plays his normal ass-kicking hero role to the max as he is framed for his wifes murder in a futuristic city where one of the biggest draws is a game run by the prison system. The concept is simple. Win 5 races and you win your freedom. Not too bad , unless the warden will do anything to keep you from winning 5 races. Some of the parts are fairly predictable but even I didn't see the ending coming. All in all not bad and deffinately worth a watch.

What can I say about this movie? It seemed like more of the same movie we see all the time. brother ruins other brothers business and realizes he was wrong and comes back at the end to save the day for everybody. I'm pretty sure Vince Vaughn is going to be stuck playing the same character in every movie he's in for the next 10 years, and I guess it works. Kevin Spacey is also in the movie but he didnt do anything special until the end.

I watched this movie last night for the first time in years and it wasn't half bad. Cheech Marin is the main character who is a United States citizen who gets accidently deported to Mexico and then struggles for the entire movie trying to sneak his way back into the US. Daniel Stern costars and he's just as funny in this as he is in Home Alone.

For all the newbies who have never heard of the game 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon let me explain. The original way to play is to come up with an actor/actress and attempt to link him/her to Kevin Bacon through movies using no more than 6 moves. For example if you try and link Bruce Willis to Kevin Bacon you could start with Bruce Willis in Die Hard 3 with Samuel L. Jackson who is in Goodfellas with Robert DeNiro who is in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon. That would be a total of 3 moves. To make it a little more random I like to forget about linking to just Kevin Bacon and just throwing out 2 random peoples names and seeing if you can link them in as few moves as possible. We play this at work all the time...helps pass the time.
